As part of the "Daily Searchlights" investigations to uncover the philanthropist behind the infamous trip by some men of God to Jerusalem to pray for the President and the country, it has been unveiled that the famous ‘sponsor’ is Mrs. Lordina Mahama, the 1st Lady.
A series of enquiries conducted by the 'Daily Searchlight' revealed that the First Lady; Mrs. Lordina Mahama has already sent some pastors numbering about 30 to Israel to pray for her husband. The trip which was purely organized on the basis of secrecy was based on the prophecy of Rev. Owusu Bempah who was in the media talking on the revelation he has received on the possible untimely death of the president if certain things are not done to avert the situation.
According to Rev. Owusu Bempah, the only recipe to avoid the death of President Mahama is through serious prayers, thus calling on all Ghanaians to pray for the number one Gentleman of the land. By way of responding to the prophecy of the man of God, the First Lady, as a loving wife, we learnt, decided to organize some pastors to go and pray on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama in the country where God lives; Israel.
The trip, we can state on authority, was organized by Travel Matters; a travel and tour agency located at Kokomlemle in Accra. The Managing Director of Travel Matters, Mr. Ivan Cudjoe would not speak on the trip concerning the First Lady and the pastors, but told us that he would only talk after he gets clearance from Mrs. Lordina Mahama.
“Even if I want say something, I have to ask for her consent before going ahead. So you let me talk to her about it first and I will get back to you,” Mr. Cudjoe pleaded with us.
This response came after the 'Searchlight' has persistently called on him to inquire about the details of the trip. His initial comment on the subject was filled with astonishment as he couldn’t believe such information would get to the media.
“But how did you get this information?” the questioned.
The 'Daily Searchlight' is also reliably informed that the trip of the 200 pastors to Israel is also being taken care of by the same travelling agency. On this trip there are ten of her church members. She attends the Assemblies of God Church at Cantonment.
When a highly placed media practitioner close to the First Lady was contacted, he decided to take a swipe at this reporter and the Media House.
“This is not good journalism. You can’t do your stories based on hearsays. Where is the evidence that she is sponsoring the pastors’ trip to Jerusalem, or has the government come out to mention her as the Philanthropist behind the trip that we are talking about?” he demanded to know.
He rose to the defense of the First Lady and these are some of the words he uttered “I know what you are doing. You are just trying to engage in media terrorism. She has been travelling all her life. She didn’t start travelling because she is a second lady or first lady. If she decides to travel to Israel on daily basis, what business has it got to do with you? Because she travelled sometime ago to Israel with some pastors and from what I am hearing you claim she is about to travel to Israel in April, you are linking the government trip with the pastors to her? In all of these, I am not getting the analogy as to what you are saying. If you think she is behind it just provide the evidence or provide any document to show that she is behind the trip and stop what you are doing. I have done journalism for 17 years now, I have done radio, television and taught hundreds of students, I have never done or taught my students anything like this. She is a private person and can decide to travel with people whenever she likes. Do you have any evidence to show that she travels with government money? What is wrong with someone travelling with people with her own resources? Or are you telling me that because Nana Akufo-Adddo went to pray at Israel we can conclude that he is the sponsor of this trip?
You can go ahead with you publication if you want to but you will have to bear any repercussions of that action. She started doing this children’s home thing long time ago. “Why don’t you report on it and say it is government money?”
